While killing a winter evening surfing the used car ads, it occurred to me that '74-81 Corvettes are fairly common and relatively affordable. I know there are some fast Corvettes out there already, but if someone was looking to build a stocker which of these years might offer the best potential?
A quick look indicates that bodywise the '74-77, '78-79, and '80-81 models are basically the same so I would guess that the year claimed could be adjusted as needed. It also looks like 78-81 could be claimed with a nose and tail cover change. Other threads have indicated that the IRS rear can easily handle a stocker small block's torque, so that shouldn't be an issue with some upgrades. Thanks in advance for any feedback on the pros and cons of these cars! Jeff |

The '80 305/180 rated @ 235 hp K/L/M
"80 350/190 rated @ 283 hp F/G/H '80 350/230 rated @ 295 hp E/F/G None of the above are the best choice for there respective class, but it gives you options if someone bombs one of the hp ratings. |

I think our 78 is a very good combo, and with the P&M engine.

Hi Jeff.Jim Marshall ran good numbers in his Corvette. Not sure the year,
possibly late 70's. I don't believe he runs it now, but, possibly, would be a good guy to contact. Terry K |

Jim's Corvette was a 1981 now owned by Chuck Weber and it's still fast.
