Default First year competing at divisionals

Hey guys new to this site and have been competing at the local track the last two years, bracket racing.

I just wanted to reach out to some of you guys that have been competing in nhra divisional events for years now and see if I'm missing anything in order for me to compete at maybe 2 or 3 events this year to get my feet wet.

I want to compete in super street(divison 5), the car will not be faster than 135mph. I don't have a 9.99 or quicker license but do have nhra competition number/license for bracket racing. I will be getting a license for super street but just wanted to check what else I might be missing? From what I've read in the rule book the car will pass tech. Just feels like theres gotta be more left to do than just show up at the next divisional!

Welcome to the class, S/St you need an NHRA membership a S/ST completion number. The car must pass NHRA tech, you need an engine diaper, collector tethers plus all the normal stuff. No rubber fuel lines, a battery disconnect ,if the cars a ladder bar car the front hiems are suppose to have safety around them, up to date seatbelts and helmet. Any other questions just ask. PS a name to your post would be helpful. Welcome to the ZOO. Robbie

Speaking of tethers. I'll check the decibels when it gets warmer out but have any of you seen a sbc(355) with open headers break the decibel rule??

Haha my dad still has the mufflers from when they were going to make him and many others run them because of the sound level.

If you're staying at the track overnight, go out and visit some of the other s/st people. We always enjoy meeting with new racers. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience and don't be afraid to introduce yourself.......

Appreciate it thanks! Looking forward to it. Dad raced stock eliminator way back when(before i came along) and 99% of his stories are about what happened in the pits after racing then what took place on the track.

Is there anyway I could look up the grading points from a previous year? For example I am curious what it would take to run super street at Topeka this year but they didnt run super street last year and did the year before(2013)

Well they show a quota of 45 cars as of today 4/10/15 there are 11 cars entered entry is currently open for 4 grading points or more, on 4/15/15 it will open for 3 grading points, on 4/22/15 it will open for 2 grading points and on 4/29/15 it will open for 1 grading point .entry will close on 5/18/15
So while I don't know how many cars they drew last time, but it's probable the the will have a full field for SST.
Get on NHRARACER.COM get registered and enter when you're eligible to so, if you don't have any grading points contact the NHRA in some rare circumstances you may (maybe) get in.
Good luck.
