Spark Plug Reading Tool

What are you guys using to read spark plugs?

Moroso makes a tool, but I have read several articles where people are using an Otoscope, as it allows you to see the base of the porcelain better.

Otoscopes can be expensive and I do not want to spend more than I need.

Any recommendations?

I have a couple of magnifiers that I got for my model building that work OK. One set clips to my glasses, but I has surgery and don't need them anymore. The others fit over my head like a hood. They came from a craft store called Michaels.

These are for watch repair and have LED lights and up to 25X lenses:

Cut the threaded section off and easy to read porcelain.

I saw an easier way to do this. You make a holder for the plug and use a holesaw to cut the back part of the plug that holds the porcelain piece in. It works great compared to a saw.

I ended up buying the Moroso 62348

As I use an open trailer and work out of the back of my pickup, this will work the best.
