Dave Reitz wins at Mason Dixon Dragway
This past Sunday Mason Dixon Dragway hosted it's 33rd Annual Mopar Meet and Drag Race. In a six round race, Dave Reitz, driving his nostalgia stocker, a '64 Dodge max wedge powered "post car" won the class with great lights, especially in the first four rounds and with ETs in the low 10.60s @ 125 mph. Now going way back, Dave and his fellow co-worker, Tom Sneeden, at Banning & Sons Dodge / Plymouth dealer, Hyattsville Md. drove a pair of '63 Max Wedge cars, the "Bounty Hunters", Dave drove the Plymouth and Tom drove the Dodge. They campaigned these cars all over the Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania area nearly every Friday and Saturday night and Sundays too. They ran with the best of them back in the day, winning more often than not. They ran everyone form Bud Faubel, Ronnie Sox, Malcom Durham, Dick Brannon, Dave Strickler and all the local drivers of the day. I was lucky enough to see all this great racing as a first year announcer at 75-80 Dragway. Now I got to send Dave down the track as a winner again, 53 years later. Dave's family were all in attendance to see this, his winners circle picture is on the Mason Dixon Dragway website. a happy bunch for sure. Oh by the way, Dave's just a young guy, he's only 77 years old! What a great day for all of us! He's gonna win some more too.
