Default Parking at Indy

500 plus rigs to park in time to get everyone inside and ready for the Q1 Wednesday morning, how long will that take.

On a lighter side of things: I will start the pool on how long it will take the Emmons-Lucas Oil hauler to get parked. This is an elapsed time event, the clock will start when truck moves forward to pull into pit space and continue to run until all the brothers are satisfied with the placement of the rig. They have had a few years experience with the Big Rig, so with that, my guess will be equivalent to a sub 12 second NASCAR pit stop. I know I'm going out on a limb here, but I really think they will get er done in just under a hour.

500 plus rigs parked in one day, Tuesday, if parking staff works 10 hours the average would be 50 rigs an hour for 10 hours. I doubt if the staff can have that kind of average. If you get there on Monday afternoon you will be in the second holding lot and have a poor chance of being parked on Tuesday. By the time you get parked on Wed. and get credentials, you may have missed your qualifying shot on Wed morning. Then if you have problems, you may miss your opportunity to qualify.

Can NHRA really not afford to pay parkers an extra day to start parking on Monday??

We talked with one racer who was not going to be able to get there til Tues. afternoon and he is thinking about withdrawing.

One more thing, Indy needs to be a pleasurable event. This is the crown jewel of NHRA! It does not need to be a mine field of "I gotchas"! $5 ice cream is bad enough!

Hard to say now. Could take shorter or longer since Jerry is the sole driver of the rig since Bob retired.

Hope someone from NHRA is there to watch to make sure Jerry isn't disqualified from parking for excessive breaking. BP

Larry, nobody seem to catch the crux of this post. With about 540 rigs to park on Tuesday I'm guessing that only about half of them will be inside by Wednesday unless they have a crew of about 15 workers.

Just guessing here, but I think its just "enter gate 8" then probably left to grassy holding area, or right to circle track for further parking later

Gate 8 is where we go in and out while at Indy. So I guess we will stack where we normally park. I can't imagine them taking us back across to the other side of the track to stack. I predict confusion!!!
