Question Mr. Beard help

Mike have you or anyone else head of a new/old track reopening? I know it's open just wondering if they have a web site or if anybody knows any info what their running? @ one time (back in the 80's) it was called Tri-Rivers dragway. it's located in Fourt-Guy WV. it's the "100 yard dash" track. Word on the street is they paid $1000 to win all 3 classes weekend before last! They were said to have 84 street cars their!

News to me... any track is good news, I think. I just found out at that Lowcountry (formerly Cooper River) in South Carolina closed this year, but our own Frank Lambert, who won SS at Darlington the other week, is helping to bring back Midway Dragway in Greelyville, SC.

Greg,

I believe you may be talking about Fort Gay, WV. That is in Wayne County just south of the Huntington area. It is across the Big Sandy river from Louisa, KY. I live in WV, but about 3 1/2 hours from that part of the state, so I am unfamiliar with any dragstrips that may have been in that proximity at one time.

There is one thing that is catching on in western, PA though. They have been having flashlight drags for street cars at several airports this summer and I hear it has been pretty sucessful.

Tim Griffith was telling me about a 330' track in KY, just over the line. Maybe this is the one you are talking about.

Story sounds consistent, but I cannot remember the name of the place to save my life.

There used to be a track just west of Ashland, KY called River Cities Raceway. It was an IHRA sanctioned 1/8 mile track in the 80's. The property was closed and then sold. Rumor had it the owner bought the property, used the track as his driveway and built his house at the end of the track.

Recent rumor has it that Fort Gay (just as Chris described) has re-opened for business.

I am unaware of a Fourt Guy in KY or a track in the Hazard County area that has opened or re-opened.
