I know every combo is different but for you guys running 3 speed automatics what kind of fallback do you want from your shift point.
Reason I’m asking is I feel my converter is too loose with my new motor. It runs good but I think it’s loose but don’t know if it’s worth making a change. This is only a bracket car but I’m shifting at 6400 and it’s only falling back to 6000. Just looking for opinions/suggestions. |

That's a million dollar question and answer, what's your converter slippage % in high gear?
Gear ratio ,hp and tire size comes in to play, It might take a couple of adjustments in the converter to find what works the best |

It would be good to know where it makes peak torque and HP, 6000-6400 sounds like a pretty narrow band to work in.
Hard to say otherwise. |

I think the rpm should fall back to where the engine makes peak torque after the shift.
There is only one way to know for sure.

105 mph is my guess of what it goes, typical mph for 6.50 et, in order to do the equation. 7% is good 1/8 mile but stall is high for 6400 shift, should be around 5000 - 5200 stall 3 speed transmission shifting 6400 rpm. Last edited by Mike Rietow; 07-21-2020 at 12:20 AM. |

I have noticed with customers that every converter/combination is slightly different. Some don't like to hang, some do. Just have to do some testing to get it right.
