Today was a test day. The place looks empty from my previous visits. They are allowing parking on both sides of the track. Many racers took advantage of the day. 33’ this morning, warmed up to 55 this afternoon. Qualifying starts tomorrow.

A big congrats to Ray Pacquet for setting the SS/A record at 8.42@159.23 in his Thunderbolt. He has been driving that car seemingly forever and he definitely deserves the recognition that comes with setting a National record. As you can tell by my avatar, I am a Ford fan and I love Thunderbolts!

Someone took the Stock sheet down. There were 68 cars 1st rd. 6-7 cars were 1.20 or more under. About 40 S/S cars. Temps in the mid 50’s. Running the bracket cars now.

Not much news coming from this race. But, Live Timing appears to be working. Don't know how accurate it is, for this race.
Anyhow, I have a question. According to Live Timing, Dave Batta survived 3 rounds of Stock. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...ock-eliminator He's listed as driving a J/SA car. As we know, Live Timing don't list the car brand or model. I'd like to know what car he is driving ? ![]() I think he had the Mark Yacavone HPP mag Bird. I'd like to know if that car is what he's driving today. A quick DRC search for Dave's name shows his last race with the car was in 2006. Don't know how accurate that is. As a side note, a '77 Bird was #1 qualifier. ![]() https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=123893 Would also like some good pics of the car, either at this race, or at least recent pics. Anybody who can supply this info or pics, please do. Thanks ! Last edited by oldskool; 10-18-2020 at 06:43 PM. |

I thought this was worth a post.
IF the Live Timing numbers are correct, Travis Morgan cut a .001 light & got beat on the tree ! That's right. His opponent cut a perfect .000 light, AND ran a 9.728, on his 9.72 dial-in. Hard to beat a package like that. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...super-stock/e1 I'm sure this has probably happened before, maybe lots of times. But, this is the 1st time I've seen it happen to a Pontiac powered car I was keeping up with. |
