Upon entering the gate and paying my entry to the Div. 5 race at Earlville over the weekend I was asked if I wanted to pay an extra $35 dollars to enhance the purse. It was not explained very well how this extra money was going to be distributed, and I told the nice lady no thanks. I questioned a few of my fellow Stock racers and didn’t find anyone who had pitched in the extra $35. When I went to the tower to collect the little round money I had won, I ran into a Div. 5 official and questioned him about the supplemental fund.He told me that some racers are willing to pay a little more to race for a little more ,and 19 racers in Stock had payed into the fund. The racer who advances the farthest in eliminations will get the extra money paid in, and in the few races they have done this no winner or runner up has cashed in. He also told me that his observation is that ”most racers are not here for the money anyway.”

I'm pretty sure it is the two racers who advance the furthest, with a 65/30 split (apparently a 5% admin fee on the program).
I've been in two finals this year but I've never paid into it. Not that I like the current financials of divisional racing; I just don't like the way this was implemented.

So if 2 racers that were the last remaining contributors went out in the same round they would split 95 percent of the money. I get it now. If division 3 starts this program I might get in. Maybe a little less pay in might attract more racers.

Kicking in additional $ over and above a ridiculous entry/payout ratio would be a no-go for me. Would be more likely to participate in a T&T or bracket program that benefited the host track.
Like what Mike Cotten did in holding $ for racers and awarding the racer who goes the furthest in eliminations.

I was one of the 19 that paid.
Here was my logic: They said the entry was $165.In Division 3,it has been $180 this year. So since I figured the entry was $180 and it was "only" $165,it was "only" $20 more to get into the bonus program. I think their intentions are good with this,it just isn't explained very well.Obviously,if you win,you should get some extra money. And if you lose first round like I did,you really don't care after that. A better post might be why isn't the entry fee the same for Divisional races regardless of Division? |

Got r-up in d-1 a week ago, $1000. Was that worth the $20 entry difference????

*I admit I could be wrong on that, but when the revised payout was initially announced there was no third round money.

What was the payout for the National event? Congrats on a great semifinal finish at Reading!

It’s pathetic when you lose in the semis and don’t even get your entry fee back.
