Just got a confirmation that the Chris Stephenson Bird is for sale.
https://www.facebook.com/chris.stephenson.338 But, if I were seriously lookin for one, & couldn't make a deal on that one, I'd first contact those who have raced one in recent years, but NOT the last season or 2. A few names are: (1) Bob Aceves (2) Leo Glasbrenner (3) Todd Hoven (4) Brent Flynn If this doesn't turn up anything, I'd check with all those currently running one. Sometimes racers keep an eye out for other cars similar to theirs. I'm sure you know all these names. Besides Chris Stephenson, who has already been mentioned, some are: (1) Randi Lyn Shipp (2) Bryan Phillips (3) John Schloe (4) Tim Gillespie (5) Adam Strang (6) Ronald Prince (7) Bruce Noland And, I think Bob Michael may have built & sold more Pontiac Stock/SS cars than anybody else. He may know where something is. I'd be surprised if you don't at least get some good leads from some of these racers. Last edited by oldskool; 12-01-2021 at 10:26 PM. |

Don, this Bird has done real good in bracket racing. The owner says it has not been cut up. Said you'd need to remove the ladder bars & add Cal-Tracs, and replace the front tubular A-arms with stock ones.
And you'd obviously need a stock hood. He says it could easily be converted into a Stocker. He WILL sell it as a roller. Might be a way to build a nice '68 Stocker, without starting from scratch. Might also save some dollars. Lots of engine options with the '68, four 400's & two 350's. I suppose he could also build a GT Super Stock car with it. I gave him your Email address. If you don't get his Email, let me know & I'll try to get you in touch with him. Adam Strang has a 10 sec 350HO engine he MIGHT sell, since he went back to a 400. That's a guess. Haven't read it. Lynn McCarty says he has a '69 T/A replica, that could be made a Stocker.

Talked to Leo Glasbrenner today. Said he had his '68 advertised on racingjunk.com, earlier in the year, but got no bites.
So, he now has it apart doing upgrades. Plans to take it back to the track, then try again to sell. If I understood him correctly, the car comes with 2 round port RA2 engines. He likes to run it in C/SA. I think the car has run well below 10.50. It's nice. But it ain't cheap. If your friend has plenty of cash, this might be one to consider. If you wanna talk to Leo, call Remac Tranmissions, in CA. |
