I have a 1968 Dodge Dart that is backhalved with a 9 inch Ford rear. The front k member has been replaced with a tubular k member but still has the std steering box. My question is: Is it legal in super stock to run a tubular k member in a car like this in the gt classes? Or is that only allowed with the front wheel drive conversion cars?
Thanks Darrell |

Stock K member required, but it can be modified for oil pan etc.

Sit tight.. A little bird has chirped about that rule being changed.
If it happens it will be in the 2024 rules. Make your decisions after the 2024 rules are released. I think it might be an effort to equalize the rules between the FWD conversions and the RWD SS/GT cars.

Concerning the back half, it may or may not be legal for Super Stock , depending on how it was done. The rear frame rails are not permitted to be higher than the factory trunk floor, and most of the original trunk floor needs to be retained. So if the car has had all the trunk flooring replaced, or made of flat steel or aluminum, and had the frame rails made to "kick up" higher etc, that will need to be corrected to meet the rules.

Hopefully these pictures attached correctly. Does this look like it would be legal. Ignore the spider webs and dust, it's been sitting a couple of years...
Well I tried uploading a picture of the trunk but it keeps failing. Apparently the file is too big or to high of resolution. Last edited by darrellbargeron; 10-04-2023 at 04:02 PM. |

Stock/original floor, in the original location, between the frame rails. All the way to the tail panel.

Adger, would it be for all GT cars or Super/stock in general? Thinking Chevy II's could stand an update?
