I worked for Thomas and Betts in the late 70s into the 80s. Company legend was the Chicago police department came up with the idea to use them as handcuffs during the riots of the 68 Democtatic convention.

For a while I worked for a guy who had a pretty large ebay business. He sold mostly industrial, electrical, and tools. I researched and wrote the ads. Anyhow, one of the brands he was most happy to find was Thomas & Betts since they sold immediately. Quality and design was the reason.
