Default Terry McGee another good one gone too soon

Terry L. McGee, age 74, of Newark passed away on February 22, 2025. Terry was born on June 29, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Lewis A. and Dorothy A. (Walker) McGee.

He was an avid drag racer who started his life of racing in 1969, and was a track champion at both National Trail Raceway and Pacemakers Dragway for many years. He won a Division 3 Championship at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 2002 to earn his way to compete in the National Championship at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, California. He is the only racer in NHRA history to compete in every single Bracket Finals since 1976, a streak of excellence lasting 49 years. Racing was his passion and nothing could keep Terry from racing as the desire to compete and win was as strong as ever, even with health issues in recent years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna M. McGee; daughters, Jacque Haynes, Holly McGee; grandchildren, Kayla McGee, Jessica Haynes, Ryan Haynes, Adrianna Huff, Emilee Huff; great grandchildren, Addisyn McGee, Maverick Barrera; and brother, David A.McGee.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Karen McGee.

Terry and I raced many ah time. Killer racer. His wife Dianna was probably better than both of us. We all grew up racing at Trails, Norwalk, Pacemakers, Edgewater, Kil Kare and the now defunk Tri State. I moved on to Superstock but would still run into Terry as he raced class at various times throughout his life. So many of the bracket racers I started the journey of life with in the racing world have moved on.
Bye Terry. Welcome to part 2, whatever that may be...
