Default Vic Santos memorial race at New England Dragway this weekend

June 7th and 8th is a double stock/super stock race at NED and includes a Memorial race to honor Vic. Originally the Memorial race was scheduled for Saturday, but the forecast is questionable. There is our regular race Sat and Vic's race is now scheduled for Sunday.

These are the first 2 of the 6 race ASRA schedule. Many have left their rigs at NED after last weekends national. Below is a pasted section with lots of info from the ASRA section of Class Racer. It is pretty obvious how Vic's work, influence etc. have really elevated this race in his honor. Great payout, great man and it will be a great race.

"We've had numerous individuals contribute to this memorial race and they have to be thanked for their support in honoring a long standing contributor to the racing community and ASRA:

Donations of $1,000+
Peter Foster, East Coast Tire
Tom and Mary Boucher, Boucher's Racing Engines
Mark Callanan, Atlantic Drywall
Jim Boudreau, Jim Boudreau's Automotive Service Center

Donations of $500+
Jim Whitehead, Whitehead Motors
Tim Stickles, Gutters By Design
Mike Sullivan, Malden Machine

Donations
ASRA
Ted Mazzotta
Brian Fink
Gary Parker
Pete Merceri
Val and Deb DiGenova
George Labelle, Performance Distributing
Mathiew Beriault and the Beraiault Family
Joel McMahon
Brady Jezewski
Brad Rose
Davey Farris
Dean Ribeiro
Tom Pickett

How the money is awarded to participants was at the discretion of those that made the contributions. Some wanted their contributions to go to members only while others wanted their contributions to go to any participant. The generosity of these individuals allow the current payouts to be guaranteed! $6,600 to win for members!

ASRA Members
(Track Payout + Membership Payout + Memorial Race Payout)
Winner: $6,600
R/U: $2,800
Semi: $1,045

Non Members
(Track Payout + Memorial Race Payout)
Winner: $2,850
R/U: $1050
Semi: $310

There is still the opportunity to contribute to this race if anyone is interested. Please reach out to me at tboucher1122@gmail.com. There are still memorial stickers available as well.

Thanks

The memorial race will be on Sunday June 8th. Saturday June 7th is a regular Stock/ Super Stock race. Still a great payout. Come race and get a warm up for the big $$ race. Its a better deal than a National event.

It was a great day of ASRA stock/super stock racing in memory of Vic. It was great to see Vic's widow Judy at the race and her kind words for ASRA were appreciated greatly. We had at least 3 heads-up races, some surprises , and a group photo that is outstanding. There were great races and many stayed till' the final as the day unfolded. I believe we had 46 cars

The semi finals saw one surprise as Tim Gray was still in with Eric Merryfield's 13 sec Gremlin. Tim had never driven the car before and only had 1 time trial. In a close race he was defeated by Ethan Sutherland's SS/GT Malibu. TJ Boucher singled in the semis. It should be noted that all 3 semifinalists were second generation racers and their Dad's had been knocked out earlier in the race. The final went TJ's way, and it was an emotional race and winners circle as Vic was an integral part of the Boucher family and Boucher's Racing Engines .

Donations poured in for this race with the winners take at $7250. Payouts went back to include 2nd round losers. It was truly a great day, I lost early but stayed till the end and really enjoyed all the great racing.

Saturdays race did get rained out, and is rescheduled for August 17th. The group photo is on the ASRA website www.asra-ne.com and can be purchased from the New England Dragway track photographer. Our next races are at Lebanon Valley June 28-29th , the weekend before the LODRS at Lebanon. Join us ! ! !
