Ring seal is critical. Fixing that will help a lot, and really must happen before you can do much else.
I ran a 87 Firebird 305 carb motor for a while, and they do work well. That was before roller rockers were legal, and I spent a lot of time checking and replacing rocker arms. The 305 was hard on them. The roller rockers should give you some hp and save you a lot of headaches. Use good pushrods too! Bullet and Comp both work well with stocker racers, and either should be able to get you a good, up to date, cam. I have used both in the past. Good luck, and have fun! Ken |
