Re: First three pair
Maybe you can help me Ron with some quote I remember hearing years ago; "A loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and........." Man I hate getting old.

Re: First three pair
One way someone could try and solve the issue on waiting for the "late" people is this. We are all laddered. You know who you are racing before the call is made to the lanes. If racing a "late" person bothers you, try this.
Sometime before the round, make your way to the pit spot of your competitor. Have a nice shiny quarter ready and ask if they would like to flip a coin. However, ask them if they would be willing to flip for time, instead of lane. Or maybe even both. Say " lets flip for when we go up, I win the coin toss, we go when I am ready- I loose the toss, we go up when you are ready". Its fair, and it does not have to have Big Brother change the rules for everyone. I would be interested in knowing who would say no to this type of coin flip. Are they a true sportsman or just have to have their way no matter what. Another idea would be to have the last 5 winners of the round be in the first 5 pair the following round. Re: First three pair
Is there a reason that NHRA couldn`t assign ALL the laddered pairs to a run order? Once the first pair pulls out of the staging lanes, the sequence keeps moving, and if you are not beside your opponent when it`s time to go, you forfeit. Why should the chronic latecomers be allowed to dictate the pace and running of eliminations?

Re: First three pair
Pretty sure there is no written rule on this. But there are reasons for it as well. Some run multiple cars or crew for others as well. There is less halp available today than years ago so racers pull double duty. There is also strategy to this during Qualifying or dependent on which round, shade, sun, weather changes etc. or as rounds get later and fewer cars there is less time to cool down and refuel and recheck things. I doubt it's ahead games thing for the most part. If you get rattled that easily you should reevaluate some of your own racing program. Heads up runs can have you making a lot of last minute thrashing too. There are usually reasons for that delay though.

Re: First three pair
Most likely reason for the delay “I race when I’m ready and I don’t care what side of the ladder I’m on or when I’m called to the lanes”

Re: First three pair
My boy and I both run Stock and Superstock at most races.
We try to be in the first few out in first class if they are back to back. If we are fortunate enough to go some rounds = We let the lane guys and our competitors know we are running both classes. Then we go like H*ll to get back ASAP! We see it as a privilege to be allowed to run both classes and we are grateful for it and do not take it for granted.
