I have about an inch and a quarter from the leaf spring to the sidewall right now at 5.5 inches of backspace, so either the Hoosier or the 3060 I'm going to lose a half inch of that clearance. If I go to the Hoosier 30x10.5, I definitely have to go to a 4.5 backspace. With my weight I don't think I really need a 30x10.5 tire, it would definitely be a little more forgiving. I lot of the higher HP Stockers are way faster than that on the above tires. We have found very little difference in ET between Goodyears and Hoosiers the last several years. Years ago, the Goodyears tended to not recover from wheel spin very well. However, Goodyear seems to have gotten a handle on that since that time.

If you are going to run Super Street, keep in mind that you will be first out in the morning. I would highly suggest running a bias-ply slick as it will be more forgiving. In Division 2, it is hit-or-miss on what kind of track you are going to get from the NHRA early in the AM (and late in the rounds). A lot of Stockers are running a bunch of weight to compensate for this.

I would always suggest running a radial tire if your car works. If it doesn't work, make it work.
In your case, I would suggest a 28 x 10.5 bracket radial, either PBR (Mickey) or DBR (Hoosier).

After reading your original post again, the first thing I would do is mount up the 30 x 9 radials you already own and try them. I ran brackets and S/ST for 20 years on those tires (30 x 9 Stocker radials, but not Mickeys) before switching to bracket radials 4-5 years ago.

I agree with Tony!
I run a ProCharged SBC with EFI @ 3100 lbs. We have run S/ST, but not with this combo & the car is primarily a bracket car. We have a glide with a 1.76 1st gear & launch @3400 with around 3 lbs. of boost. The car 60's in the high 1.20s. We have raced on pretty much all the Hoosier 30x9 radials, C06, C07 & C30 compounds in both standard & lightweight. We also run the M/T Pro Bracket Radial 30x10.5. The M/T is our favorite radial, but the Hoosiers are a very close 2nd. The Hoosier below in yellow & we have limited runs on them. They seem to work well & provide a very aggressive bite on the starting line. 1700/781L ![]() ![]()
