Jeff,
Your prediction is probably very close. Steve at Ford Racing Parts (SVT) says the motor makes 750 Horsepower. 3,350 @ 750 HP = 9.41 @ 143 mph.

Bruce,

Is this the 5.4-liter motor? If it is, that's nearly 2.3 hp per cubic inch...

Wonder about the engine life of a motor making this much power per cube, hot-lapping in the final rounds.

Might that be a factor? Is that a Gilmer belt driving the blower, or just a multi-ribbed serpentine unit? To make that kind of power, I'd think the supercharger must be working pretty hard (high boost levels,) That's hard on belts....
Just a thought.

Bill

For 750hp they don't seem to be running all that well so far.

You don't give Ford guys much credit, Bruce. We love to rile Chevy and Mopar guys by telling them things like 750hp dyno numbers. If you read history you'll see they told NASCAR they were coming out with a 600 HP overhead cam Galaxie, the Mopar guys had no internet forums to moan about it online back then. Too bad, it would have saved Ford from having to build a few prototypes.

Bill,
The fellow at FRP (SVT) said they had put twin turbos on this motor and that the bottom end had no problems holding up under the 1,100 Horsepower they produced. His words. Not mine.

Actually those engines take a lot more than that. John Mihovetz runs a Cougar mostly in the PSCA series but also in Comp AA/AT or BB/AT. Also Steve Matusek Jr. runs one in a Mustang Comp/Pro Mod. That's the same basic engine... going 6.20's! There are LS1's making that sort of power too. I always thought "newfangled junk" too.

An LS1 would need a replacement rotating assembly to handle that kind of HP and survive. I believe that the SC Mustang motors have forged cranks, rods, and pistons.
