I agree w/ John but I was not there last weekend and I will be in the fall so my opinion is a little tainted (yes I did just say tainted) .
Deb had a very good point about points implacations (hope I spelled that correct) but rather you get 2 shots @ points in one place or have to travel, I believe if your in the hunt, you will do what is needed. At worst, I would let people in and give them the grade point if they wanted it (not in the points hunt but still want the grade) and let them compete, but don't let their points count. This way it lets Joe and NHRA rebound and get some extra money and give a chance for some extra people to compete. I would race and not take the grade, but be willing to spend to have a chance at some $$$ and Wally. If I'm not in the top 5 when the race comes around, I would take the grade. It has been an awful year for the tracks, I would just hate to see them have to turn away people that want to race. |

Implicated.....
They should keep the fields open and all new players get no points and can be blockers.

I would agree with that...No new points for those who didn't attend in June but open the fields up to everyone.
I'm with Pete and Gary, the Wally and Dead Presidents are where it's at. |

I was there and I did sit in the Rain with everyone else. I had a good feeling the race wouldn't be finished. But I do agree that the field should be opened, for many reasons:
1) NHRA has been complaining about low car counts, well this is a good way to change that 2) people who were not able to attend the past date will be able to go and have fun and race. 3) It makes no difference as far as who you race, because it is random anyway. If we are going to penalize people then should we not allow the people who left before they called the race not allowed to compete in October. It is all pointless, Lets let everyone race and have fun, what is the big deal? I sat there and waited and didnt race, but i will not get mad if someone else comes in and kicks my butt, if that happens I should have ran a better race. Maybe the people who were not entered before do not get a time run, but the people who did sit in the rain ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE A TIME RUN. That would be fun! |

Yes, I am afraid of tougher competition, more rounds & afraid I will be using more fuel and all of the above.
After all I just get lucky once in a while. ![]() I just look at it like this, the ones who stayed home were already planning on doing that and the ones who wanted to or could race did just that or attempted to. If its all about helping the NHRA & the Tracks in some peoples eye's then they should have helped them the first time, oh but i forgot some people have a life outside of racing how dare they... Without beating a dead horse (this will be my last reply) I don't think the people that stayed home because they just spent 5 months @ the national event in E-Town, and didn't want to blow $300.00 in motorhome fuel to go sit in the rain (because everyone knew it was going to rain) should be penelized, I also don't think the track should be penalized either when they have the chance to make up some money. I don't think we should have all the benefits as the people who showed (no points for us) but were going to be there anyway....let's just race.
What about the people who attended last week but can't go in the fall?? No one has mentioned them. There is no way everyone will see eye to eye on this, but I know if I was there, i would have no problem with other racers racing. What about how unfair it will be to race a car in the second race that has already been down the track 10 time in 2 days? |

Closing the fields is absolutely, positively, unequivocally, WITH OUT A DOUBT the MOST retarded thing they could do in this economic climate!
