At the ET finals in Phoenix last weekend a part fell off of a car and distracted the driver in the other lane.
He lost and asked the Div 7 Director about it and was told there is no rule in the book about parts falling off.

Wasn't this a case of first or worst ? Didn't the other guy cross the centerline ?

We had a car lose a can of wax (must of been under the hood) and it cross the center line, the other car ,which was dialed 2sec. faster, lifted to avoid hitting it. so what would be the ruling on something like that?
ps Ed Fernandez is that your car on the left side of avatar?

I had a guy lose his driveshaft and it came over in my lane. I had to hit the brakes to avoid it and they gave the win to him.

Years ago. Saw a TAD blow a motor on top end. Crank was all the way out laying on track. Car was pushed to scales. Car comes up light, one of the crew members runs over where NHRA is cleaning track, grabs crank and debris sits it on scales. Car passes weight and qualifies. Scale guy didn't know what to think or say.

Although weight didn't matter, when I crashed my car at the ET finals (taking out several sections of top end guardrail) the track crew brought a couple of contractor trash bags full of parts from my car. I swear they managed to find everything but a small piece of the fiberglass frontend. There were connecting rod and engine block pieces, everything! I'll bet that we could have weighed my car remains and they would have been damn close to the correct weight (less all the oil and water which was sprayed on the track).
Regards,
