I disagree. "Factory Type" infers seats from the factory and does not infer the seats must be from the body that surrounds them. NHRA is very specific when they want something specific and it would say something like this: "Seats must be for make, model and year produced". "Factory Type" in my opinion is something you would see from the OEM, not a Kirky as seen in SS.
As an example, the rule once read "radiator must be from same model" so guys with a '69 Camaro were running a 2002 Camaro radiator which is aluminum and lighter. The rule now reads "Radiator must be from same make, model, year" or words to that effect.
I say run your Cavalier seats unless NHRA tells you otherwise.

What it really means is "We don't have that many people qualified to say what seats belong in what. We got your $270 so we don't care.

Didn't Danny Bird or someone with a Chevy 11 run into a problem with a
seat that was out of a 4 door in his 2 door (non folding back) and it had to be corrected?
That seems to indicate that some techs want the correct seat.

you'd think a non-folding seat would be preferred as a safety item.
i'd like to run a stationary seat in my rambler, that damn thing'll go both ways...

I heard a rumor that these would be required for Stock Eliminator contestants next year. Something about needing more room for Top Sportsman and Dragster..

I'm sure the recliners will be nice when Glendora's got the Stockers in the staging lanes at 6:30-7:00 a.m. at Nat. Events in the near future.... WJ

hey, while we're on this subject, can you "notch" the seat for shifter clearance?
it's gonna be pretty close....
Notching the seat is not a problem. When we notched the bench in our Nova , we just welded a hoop in there to keep the seat strong and make it easier for recovering it.

Adger, you are correct. According to Danny Gracia, 4 door seats are illegal in a 2 door car. He made the call at Indy on year. Byrd didnt get to race......
