Have been many 10.40s and a few 10.30s in A.SA with bench seat. If harness is installed correctly / fitted and the driver actually tightly cinches himself in place it will keep you safe. Seat back should be bolted to roll bar and if not a high back seat, a properly placed and installed support for head and neck.

No seats specifically designed for drag or road racing in stock eliminator.

Build a late model car or move to super stock.

My 90 Camaro has high back seats with some lateral support.
But it does not go in the 10s and I am being chased most of the time.

No, No, No, that is my vote. Just another way to lighten a car up, and if your stuff is built right , you will be safe. Check your belts, make sure the back of your seat is supported by the cage, etc. It is your responsibility to check this stuff and protect yourself.

And if this were to go thru, and Billy applied all these wt saving enhancements, hell he would have that nova 4 dr in A/SA with the 307

Sorry Billy, I couldn't help myself

Yeah, yeah, take the AA through D cars and make them run SS! That way you'll have to meet the safety regs. of all the other 9 and 10 second cars. Won't have to worry about any of those troublesome 4 and 5 second spots anymore either (low rent, dirtbag, slow stocker scum). Then you can also extend your cage through the firewall to make it safer, put bigger tires on it (we all know how unsafe it is running in the 9s on those skinny tires!), get rid of those flimsy, crappy rocker arms (break one of them and you could lose a motor and oil down those skinny tires), etc, etc, etc. We want all of you guys to feel safe! Seats don't affect the performance at all (except maybe letting you move around some weight which doesn't help performance). Yeah, riiight.
(All of this crap was written in the name of sarcasm) Yeah, riiight.
I like your idea.....Take the AA stockers on down to about "D" or "F" stock and run them in S/S. Make stock wt breaks start around 10 lbs per. Yeah....you got it right this time Billy.

Just move the car to a lower class until you feel safe. We've had enough enhancements.

just for everyone's info a 1966 283 chevy wagon without a roll bar would be perfectly fine and legal with a 1966 installed lap belt.

danny byrd's chevy II was bounced at indy two years ago because he did not have a folding seat (2 door style) but had a lighter solid seat (4 door wagon style)...

just another attempt to move weight from front to back by the fast guys...

and by the way i race stock eliminator, pay my dues, why should i not be allowed an opinion on this or any other rules issues... damn fast guys want all rules amended to thier liking and screw us we dont even get an opinion anymore... billy nees is right 90% of rule changes have not helped us...only the fast guys.

Jack & Billy,
I don't have a problem with the seat rule as they are. I was just giving Micky a hard time. We have a faster car but we add wt. to the front of car to controll wheel stands. I am one of you guy's I have another car that you will have to spot if I ever get it to run the index

I definitely do not care for aftermarket racing seats in Super Stock, in Stock Eliminator it would be even more of a joke. They do not belong-PERIOD!

MW,
I agree with ya on all safety issues including seats. I think the slow guys should pay attention also. Especially with all the brake jobs at the stripe..
