It probably is just you.I bracket raced steady from 1978 to 1993 and there were quite a few incedents when the classes were changed to Super going to low 7s against high 12 sec cars.Also Pro from low 9s to 13.99 I think.
BTW if you've seen the CJ in question in person I'm sure your opinion would be a bit different.

I have seen the CJ's numerous times at the high end. I'm still betting on the meteor. We all have an opinion. By the way safety has changed a lot since 1978, especially tires, brakes,suspension and roll cages. I don't believe there is anything to compare between 1978 and 2010 that would be remotely close. Who would have gone 6.0's on narrow tires in 1978 or 1993. MY roll cage will not protect you but my tires, brakes and suspension surely will when you are in the slower car.

At 140mph things happen really fast and those lanes swap postions damned quickly. Just think how fast you can travel that 40' between the two cars if your running 30 mph faster than to other lane.
