Uhh, win what?Class?After that it's a bracket race.A lot of those hair dryer rockets and
tunnel ram heeemis get knocked off by the slugs once eliminations start.
Well then i may be wrong but if you ask the Hills if it's always a bracket race or Mr. Rampy they may be able to show you when it isn't and that is what the problem is with the new cars and the unfair advantage they have and as more show up it will get worse and it will affect the lower classes too when they release the low HP combos!!!!, This is stock NOT PRO BRACKET.

It isn't just a bracket race outside of head's up class racing. There is also this thing of qualifying. That affects whether you may get in or not (Indy) and also the ladder (potential bye runs).

Your right X tech man I don't have a clue about hard work.
When I started running my dad's 1983 wagon it ran 12.95 in M/SA. After six gear changes, seven different cams, three carbs, three sets of headers, and over 500 hours of work it now runs 12.20s in O/SA. Our 1988 ran 13.00 in P/SA and now it runs 12.50s.
So don't stand (or sit in you case) there from the side lines and tell me about how the younger generation just buys their way to the top. There are still some of us who know how to fine tune a combo.

And by the way this happened 12 years ago with LT1 cars. Everyone with a 67-69 camaro was crying and they STILL ARE.
Class racing is not fair so race what you have and complain or build something new.

i may be new to this but not just class winers get in right?i follow ND and i dont see to many heads up races.if you do get beat in one dont you just try harder next time,ya know the american way.i guess you could just cry about it,but that sounds like the bunch that bought in to the hope and change crap.
all the crying is getting old.send your anger to nhra not me just because i worked hard and got a car you dont like.
what are you going to do when the camaro comes out with the turbo.now thats going to be fun to watch

We can all see you are new to this. Please don't take this the wrong way, but respect among the class racing ranks can be hard to earn. However, a good place for you to start would be to use your real name and competition number. Another good idea would be for you to use proper grammar and spelling in your posts.

I also remember something about your old man being caught running a 350 instead or where a 305 was supposed to be many years ago in the wagon. Now thats working hard.....LOL.

Just for the record my dad has never been caught running a 350 instead a 305. The only time he has been DQ was for Valve spring pressure in 1988 @ INDY( along with 13 other racer because the tester was off 9 pounds). Get your facts right Pre 1960's X tech man. I see now why NHRA never asked you back.

You say you were an IHRA tech man for 20 plus years right. I was just curious if you held the bible for the famous IHRA teardowns(1978-1984) or if you guys paid a real preacher to do it for you. I would be shocked if you even know how to check a cylinder head cc.

The last time I set an IHRA record they never even plug a valve out of the head or rolled the cam. Is this the kind teaching you left behind when you left?

I sure hate to be one to agree with CD on any subject but he is correct about IHRA's slack teardowns. That is probably one of the reasons NHRA racers shy away from IHRA races even when they are in close driving distance. It is bad to have to race against cars that never get looked at. At least NHRA does teardown the new cars and has proven several times they will throw them out for an illegal engine even if the horsepower is underrated.

I agree with the lack of tear downs also. Ive complained about for years. Very few even care about tear downs anymore and the story I get is the lack of help and an open time frame. I left around 1978 and came back in 1990 and stayed until 2001. I threw out 14 stockers at Darlington at that first race of the year. Several were NHRA cars. It embarred one NHRA guy so bad he quit racing and sold his junk. I usually only worked the National events. Very few points races as I still had to work for a living.
