[QUOTE=Charley Downing;222500]Alan why on earth would you run a 140/240hp combo when you can run the 138/213hp combo? I also run a 1988 olds 307 138/213 and it's a good combo(-.95 the new index at the U.S. National this past year). The 140hp motor would haft to be around 225hp for me to even think of running i

I always wondered why every one sold me this stuff so cheap. Everyone ask me why I run that combo and not the roller motor or the 305 Chevy. It came down to what I had available and could afford. I also run it in J/SA and catch a lot flack about doing that. The little car qualify s at the bottom of the ladder, but it goes rounds.

Yes....I used to work with Newton Meters and metric crap before I retired from a Navy Calibration Lab. I wasnt sure if many here knew what I would be talking about.....LOL. I doubt if NHRA would even consider any of the refactoring by this process.

I'm a little slow but did someone really just use the word "small" to describe the 2.3 liter supercharger found on the 2008 Cobra Jet, 638 hp ZR-1 Corvette (8 psi), and 635 horsepower Shelby Super Snake (also at 7-8 psi)?

Just because the 2010's have a MONSTER 4.0 liter blower sitting atop does not make the 2.3 liter small by any stretch of the imagination. Guys have been making over 1,000 hp with 2.3 liters since they came out a long time ago.

Cool Re: A gift from Ford for the lower classes @235hp

If you had read other posts you would know that I worked for NHRA in 1974-75 in Div. 1 with Greg X. Then I started with IHRA (more friendly group) and worked for them taking care of the stock and S/S classes for 22 1/2 years except for a break in the 1980's. I quit in 2001 so I have seen it all. You young guys dont have a clue what it is like to work on a combo for years only to have something like what is happening now with the new cars comeing along and make your hard work and investment turn into obsolete junk. Today it seems to be the status que to write a check instead of building it yourself.

You will never get any of the NEW car owners to admit they are way under rated or better yet belong in super stock, They think there all entitled to there unfair advantage. It gives them there only real chance to win!!
