Since this Rambler American 2 door sedan is shown at a NHRA santioned track, in M/SA, how is he allowed to run that scoop, functional or not? Wouldn`t that be like a 68-69 Barracuda with a 340, 383, or 440 Stocker using a SS/AH Hemi hood scoop? Or a cowl induction hood on a 67-68 Z/28, or Boss 429 scoop on a 428 CJ Mustang? Just curious.
Yes to all the AMC questions, just as Ed presented. Furthermore, you are correct, the flapper is a Ford interchange item.
The issue of this M/SA Rambler scoop was brought up before on this forum. My comment was something like "if legal for show only, I'd make sure I had the rust spots under the scoop!"
Apparently NHRA doesn't care. At one time the rulebook said "mild customizing allowable". I guess this factory scoop could fall under that.

And technically speaking, and an easy fix, the air pan under the SS/H SC/Rambler is a no-no also. But lets just get the car on the track!
If the owner needs to see an application I'm @ 602-418-9797 !

Supposed to have stock OEM air filter canister or tub if using a factory ram air system, even in superstock.

It didn't hurt the fact that the car weighed less than 3000#.Still impressive. You can't touch a nice one (not a clone) for less than $40K.
