There have been 2 certain green '69 camaros at B-J over the last 2 or 3 years that may have caused Craig Jackson considerable pain, and may have influenced the way they conducted the ambulance auction last night. One was a RS/Z-28 that had been rebodied, and the other was the notorius COPO ZL-1 #27 that has been the source of much controversey. The COPO was bought in the mid '70s by NHRA racer Chuck Sharin...he took the car to a chassis shop to be made into a C/SM car and the shop ruined the car for that class...cut out the floor out completely and some other stuff. Chuck took the VIN off the car and put it on another that he made into a race car just so he could get a title for it if for the future prospect of selling the car. I think Chuck took the shop owner to court over that fiasco, even had a known chassis builder (Al Swindahl) and NHRA tech inspector/director(?) Valentine testify. Chuck has been very open and honest about this whole ordeal and hides nothing, he has written about his actions on many internet message forums and names people specificaly. I think the way the story goes is Chuck sold the Super Mod and somewhere down the road that VIN was put on another '69 camaro and was then made into a COPO ZL-1 clone/rebody etc. Reggie Jackson had the car sometime later and sold it to someone in Illinois who had the car inspected.....it was discovered that the VIN and hidden VIN were different and Reggie took the car back. 2 years ago this infamous COPO ZL-1 #27 rolled across the block and sold for about one-third the value of a legit ZL-1...all the while Craig Jackson was pumping up the auction and people in the know stayed away from the car....I remember Ron Pratt was zoomed in on during the auction and he never looked up, totally disinterested in the car (he knew the deal and had been burnt on the other green Z-28 ). The unsuspecting buyer of COPO ZL-1 #27 learned within a few days the car is a fake, and lots of people knew about it, and contacted Chuck S who said a deal was being worked out with the buyer and B-J. I remember the auction well, Reggie Jackson was on the stage and was shill bidding the car up and all that. I will look over at camaros.net and find the link, might make good winter reading.

This is th thread that contains much of the info about the auction I wrote about...Chuck Sharin enters the thread and gives his knowledge about the car, some good pics of him and the car and his C/SM in the thread too. His screen name is 'CamaroRus'. Also there are links to Youtube that show the auction, with RJ on the stage and the whole thing. Also in the thread are links to the RS/Z-28 that caused some grief. Too bad the collector car market has devolved into forgeries, restamps, rebodies, and everything else.

The way to watch BJ is to record it and then fast forward through commercials. Thank God for DVR,
