There seems to be a double standard because it is okay for acid ported cylinder heads but those Fords and Mopars better have the right horsepower rating. After 40 years of guys cheating and then NHRA changes the rules that cost me more money to update my race car , I think it is funny that the shoe is on the other foot for a change. Maybe some will just have to adapt. Also something many forget about the ballast rule is that all a racer has to do is add street equipment normally taken off the car for racing purposes such as windshield wipers and washers, heaters and air conditioning, front sway bar, spare tire, wiring harneses, back seats and so forth that is extra weight but not considered ballast.
Yeah, because GM racers are the only ones to have ever been guilty of acid porting, bogus pistons, moving valve seats in heads, or anything of the sort. Ford and Mopar racers are surely above such atrocities. Did you even read that before you posted it?

The 500 lbs is above the shipping weight, right? Unrelated to the car being heavy due to being a fully loaded street car (AC, etc)?

The rest of it, seriously?

I never said that the Mopar and Ford Racers didn't follow suit and do the same thing, but do you think that cheating with the mods you mentioned deserves more respect than taking advantage of soft horsepower factors?

You ain't cheating til you get caught.............Remember rules are made to be bent or broken....and" SUBJECT TO CHANGE". I just think the sanctions have just gotten weaker on the rules........It's a lot easier to check for an alluminum rear center section than all the other stuff.........It is dying fellows and we may as well accept it.......

So, GM racers started that stuff? Haven't been around this stuff long, have you? I could tell you some stories. :-)

...and every single illegal modification you mentioned can and will be applied to the DP's and CJ's. So, your point is?

I thought I remembered the deal was you can add weight to get to AA (or A in the past). Now all hits add weight and slow the car down. Course my memory ain't the best.

Alan,

You know that us Mopar racers never bend the rules. Just because we barely altered the wheelbase on the '65 cars and ever since we've gotten a bad rap. All we were trying to do was make up for a factory error.

Cheat....never!
