I went for simple as well. Have a button switch that is activated by the clutch pedal. Set it so when my foot is to the floor the low side is on. Not much chance of me putting the pedal down far enough on a shift to re-activate so I don't worry about it. Ideally, the micro switch for 1st gear only engagement would be the way to go.

I have a digiset timer for my nitrous that is easily adjustable and would do what your thinking. I'm not sure about being legal in a stocker though. I saw something similar on ebay for $10.

I did not do a very good job in my first post. Series the switches on the fork in your case and one on the shifter for 1st gear. Both have to be made to engage the LL. Another set of switches on both fork and 1st gear for the 2 step. No relays are allowed. Release of LL and 2 step has to be from drivers foot, and cannot be released using your hands. This is for staging the car. The Burnout, with a stick and LL is a different discussion as 1st gear is not used for the burnout. If the switches are setup in series there should be no way to bounce both switches and re-engage the 2 step.
Hope this Helps. Sean

thanks guys....
I have to stop trying to "re invent the wheel". I'll just run it in series from the clutch switch, through the 1st gear switch, to the 2-step. As you said, Dins, with the amount of time that the clutch pedal is activating the switch during a shift, I probably wouldn't notice it ( and it IS only coming out of 1st gear that would be a concern ). besides, when testing it last night, I baked my super-duper Hella delay relay ! !! Have I mentioned that I shouldn't be near electricity ?

Aubrey I have the same setup in my stocker and super stocker. I use the MSD8960 relay, powered by the linelock button. You stage the car so your foot is hitting the two step button off and on but nothing is working until you tap the line lock button after you stage. Now the two step button on the pedal has been activated and is now holding the linelock and the two step rev limiter at the same time, when you launch the car your foot comes off the button and the whole circuit opens so you can still hit the clutch on the shifts but the two step rev limiter won't activate because it must first be powered by the linelock button. Find the MSD8960 instructions and you will see how to wire it.

When doing your burnout does it not engage the low side of the 2 step or do you have to do anything special at that point? What did you use for a clutch pedal switch? Thanks, Brian |

That sounds like a real system there, Bobby... thank you for posting.
Again though... it's me and too much to do ( the manual button ). For sure, I'm a stick shift driver, and good at it. It's the helmet. I have what I call "helmet head" ! for me, Helmet goes on, It's like having no head !
