Default Vert w/ hardtop question

Is it safe to assume that running a hard top on a convertible, say an early or mid-year 'Vette, suffices the NHRA from 13.49 down to the11.49 roll bar limit? Does the NHRA still see it as a convertible even if you're running the hardtop, or does the hardtop then follow the same 11.49 bar requirement of a typical fixed roof sedan/coupe?

I don't think it's spelled out anywhere in bracket racing rules, but you probably could get away with it.
If you 're talking about a Stocker however, the rules go by what class, rather than what ET.
NHRA, in it's infinite wisdom , has a roll bar required in 12.85 Stockers.

I questioned that a few times, and all I got was "huh? ,what? duh?

I've never heard that before, guess I missed the 12.85 in my rule book? Interesting...

You are looking at bracket racing rules, apparently.

Stock rules say " Roll bar in M/SA and faster" (12.85 index)

My local track says I need a helmet in the convertible but I don't have to wear it if I have the hardtop on.

Whats even worse is that when I race my M/S Mustang in Stock, I have to wear firepants, yet I don`t need them when I race my 10.0 ET bracket car. Go figure.

Rory,
You know those Stockers are unsafe, no thought , cobbled together POS'es, that need to be over-regulated....
