Mine was so stinking slow with 3.08 gears and a 700R4 it down shifted on hills on the interstate. I put a 350" TPI in it. Don't know why they didn't put those in at the factory. Liked low RPM and got better mileage than the Q Jet 305" ever did. Pretty quick compared to other pick ups.
Well being an ex Dealership guy and for Chevrolet none the less here in California the
86 Chevy Pickup had two 5.7 350 options both were Carbs. To be exact it was a vin
code option L or M the L option had a Net HP of 165 @ 3800 and the M option had
a Net HP of 185 @ 4000. Im not sure why it would have been a Calif only option but
they do exist I personally have work on just a few of them.....lol
