I know this is a little off topic, but I had to share. Evan Smith got me and Mike Ficacci a tour of Jack Roush's airplane hanger at Willow Run Airport to see his ultimate performance machines today.

Below are two of Jacks prize possessions. A P51 Mustang B and P51 D. Evan knows Jack very well and was able to setup a special tour for me and Mike. Although Jack was at a race and could not be there, his crew chief, I guess that's what you would call him gave us a tour I will never forget. We were able to sit in the fighter planes and get a real feel for what the pilots had to work with in WWII. I was blown away with the technology of the 40's. I know the P51 was arguably the best fighter of WWII and I can see why. The planes are in amazing condition. The crew chief told us Jack flies his P51's weekly. Evan has even been lucky enough to fly in one. Jack took him on a ride he will never forget.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures, for me it was a dream come true just to sit on one. I am a big fan of all of the hardware from WWII, especially the fighter planes.

Back to racing, first round starts at 9 am. I have never run a cic race, and can’t wait for first round.

Will do Larry, see you at Indy. Greg, I felt like a kid looking at a muscle car for the first time. There was so much to absorb about the planes. Sitting in the cockpit know young man killed and died in these planes was a very surreal experience. I could only imagine what it felt like to dual it out with enemy fighters knowing you could be dead at any minute.

First round for the Ford Showdown is complete. Here is an in car of me racing our very own and loveable Charlie Downing. Charlie has one bad CJ, I never had a chance.

Wow Ken, thanks for the pictures, five years ago I met Colonel "Bud" Anderson in Oshkosh, where I was honored to talk to him, at that time he was telling us that Jack Roush had found and purchase is original "Old Crow" and was at the time rebuilding it completly. Imagine that 95% of the young men and people who worked on that project are now gone how it must of felt sitting in that seat. Bud Anderson best friend Chuck Yeager wasn't too bad of a pilot either. Too bad you didn't get to talk to Jack Roush because he's become quite the pilot with over 3.000 hrs of flight time with 800hrs in his P-51, to put in perspective, the normal hours a person works in a year is 2000hrs considering the time he puts in his race teams and all his business interest, it's incredible.
