I had a similar thing happen to me at the gators a few years back. Won class. Sent to tear down. Everything checked good except the intake valve checked .001 too small. The valve was worn and really tuliped. They bounced me and put me on 6 months technical probation. I had to go through reinspection at the next race before I was able to compete again. I did have the correct head and all of the other specs checked good on the head. I replaced the valves and went through inspection at the next race. After fixing the heads the car was .007 quicker at the next race. The mistake that I made was not heating the valve to operating temperature it probably would have picked up the .001 It was heart breaking to loose class that way.
