It is in the NHRA specs that a Damper is allowed.
Confirmed with Mike Baker at IHRA.

Hard to find a Spring with Stock Specs.
So IHRA allow a few Springs that are close!
They do not have a lot of extra pressure. Maybe 5 lbs at best.
Dampers function is to take Resonance out of the Spring.
They add minimal spring pressure.

I understand IHRAs attempt to standardize a Spring Setting for Pure Stock.
Would like to have conversation with them and get their thinking and feedback.

PureStockDrags.com standardized on 130lbs.
It covered just about every engine variation.
If the engine specs had a higher Rating.
Which many Higher Performance engines used.
You had the choice of using the greater of the two.
It reduced tech and record keeping of every car.

They seem to have a huge following.
Would love for them to join IHRA.
