Default Re: 2015 - The Indy some of us missed ! ! !

Indy is the best. I spent five years working on a wore out pile to get it to go fast enough to at least hold my head up at Indy. My first time racing an NHRA Super Stocker there. Didn't want to make the trip like some of my local contempoary's have and not even qualify. I knew the weather would give me a learning curve but I wasn't ready for it. Took all three time trials and the first round of Class to get the chassis working. Beating P.C. Richardson on a hole shot after he spun for Class, yeah, choked me up. A long time. A hell lot a lot of work. Nothing beats speeding to the finish line while looking back and knowing he wasn't going to catch me. Yelling. Loud. Swinging my arm around. So happy. So very happy.

Thirty hours later I'm driving home and an 18 wheeler hits me over 100 mph destroying the truck, trailer and race car. Split my chest and tore my back up. Took ten years to 95% heal. Glad not to be in a wheelchair. Be nice if someone would buy my Sunfire project so I can finish the Bales car.

Indy. Yeah. Special life long memories.
