1.625" Mild Steel DOM is .120" wall is 1.929 # per foot

1.625" Chrome Moly is .083" wall is 1.367 # per foot

The weigh savings comes from the fact that you are using a thinner wall material. However in this case the Chrome Moly cage will weigh 29.1% less than Mild Steel.
