What the photo doesn't show is the winch cable under the car that pulled it up into the back of the truck as well as the tie down strap under there holding it to one of the rear floor tie downs. I was helping that particular racer, with his 69 SS/E Camaro, work under the car in one of those trucks just like that in the 70s.

That's what I meant to say Scott, the car is nosed into the truck but typed trailer instead. I need more coffee... Most unobstructed access to a cars drivetrain back then. Somewhere I have a lot of old pictures from the SportsNationals in Bowling Green with folks doing the very same thing. Did it myself with a "borrowed" truck to change front shocks on a GN at a GS Nationals long ago.
