I have to disagree with you there, Jack. The continual erosion of standards affects everybody who races the category and contributes to the demise of Stock Eliminator. All of these arguments that people throw out like "look at all the other stuff that is wrong" or "it doesn't matter since it doesn't help performance" are either excuses for not being willing to stand up for what is right or they are from people who don't care if they cheat or not. There is already enough bogus stuff in the specs and replacement parts category that has become the mainstream that it will be virtually impossible in the current venue to correct, so adding to the list doesn't help anybody. If a spectator looks under the hood of a Stock Eliminator car, it should not look like a bracket racer's engine or a Super Stock engine. When Stock Eliminator becomes so diluted from the original definition that it is not discernable from other categories of racing, then it will be absorbed, eliminated or meaningless. If anything, it would help to move back to originality, to production specs and accurate policing so that there is a more unique identity to market.
