Cool Re: Rochester 2GC info

This is a timely thread. I'm about to give the 350/230 a try in a car I built. I have a bunch of big 2 barrel cores, both venturi sizes, but the booster with the number is the kind of info I need. These are a pretty simple carb, there were a ton of 350's out there with them at one time, it should work. I had a 250 horse 348 when I was about 40 years younger,it was in an Impala with a 4 speed( broke more than a few third members with it, chucked a few 2 pc drive shafts, spent a lot of time fixing it again, but that was during the years this goofy state required you to install a retro NOX device to disable the vacuum advance, and it came with instructions on how to readjust the car's idle speed and mixture so as to attempt to reduce idle emissions, but all those devices did was reduce gas mileage and cause hard cold starts and stalling at idle. It seemed that factory multiple carbureted engines were exempt, so I got a complete 348 tri
power set up with intake, carbs, fuel lines, linkage and air cleaners for next to nothing and rebuilt the three carbs and installed it. I still had to disable the vacuum advance, but we had a Sun distributor machine in the place where I worked, that and a distributor curve kit with lighter springs and heavier weights made up for that. A co worker had a very nice 389 4 speed '64 GTO, we had to trim power that thing as well. The 64-65 had the large secondary carbs and the center one was a small 2GC,the '66 had three large 2 barrels. We got pretty good at making those things work, but that was a lot of years ago. This thread brings back some good memories, but that was then, this is now. Technology has improved a bunch as well. I'll be referring to this thread a lot in the coming weeks, maybe we can all compare ideas and get something done here.
