See they’ve cancelled the Pacific NHRA Alcohol event scheduled for Aug 7-8.

D6 throwing in the towel? Hearing nothing positive about the Canadian border opening later this month so “assume” that plays a role. If you folks thought you had long tows before...geez.

Latest " rumour " is that they will keep the border closed till the end of the year.

From a Canadian viewpoint.
This map shows why it would be 'terrifying' to open Canada-U.S. border

Jim, I saw that also. I don't fully understand this decision, but I assume the border being closed plays into it.

Pacific Raceways is having other events and this one was Alcohol cars ONLY, so I am confused. I guess that comes with age.

Oh well, not my decision so will go on having fun with friends.

As a side note the Goodguys events at Puyallup and Spokane have been cancelled, also. Not drag racing, but definitely car guy and gal deals.

Stan...In British Columbia specifically, COVID-19 has been taken very seriously (because it's real). With the exception of Essential Services, the entire Province was completely shutdown pretty much for 3 solid months. We have a remarkable Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and a Provincial Health Minister Adrian Dix who have coached our Province very well. They have kept us updated daily with our progress, as well as our shortcomings that has helped things along.
A lot of sacrifice and co-operation by the population of our Province has really been Quite Honourable.
Businesses and Restaurants are slowly beginning to open as of late. We have been encouraged to stay home if you can. An opportunity to stay home from work, seems like an answered dream. The statement "We are in this Together", allows us to practice our responsibility collectively and consistently with people who truly care for one another.
Its amazing to see how the 49th Parallel stands unprotected with protection. On this side we really care for one another. As Dr. Bonnie Henry would say "BE KIND, BE CALM, BE SAFE". With Sincerity...Maurice.

NHRA can get across the border as "work related" meaning there shouldn't be any reason to cancel the event.

There was an announcement of a Canadian series with races in Medicine Hat, Edmonton, and Mission (one of which is on the divisional weekend).

I'd throw a bunch of cash on the border staying closed until 2021.

Stan
It's an interesting map to look at for sure but doesn't take into account that the entire population is only about the same as California. A person might look at that map and think there are hardly any cases in Canada but unless they realize that those wide open areas where there are no cases there are no people there either. Canada closed its border on March 21st but the peak of their cases came in late June into early July, did it work closing the border? It probably didn't hurt but I don't believe they would've had many more cases if they hadn't closed.
