Beyond my pay grade, ask the guy who took 65 HP off of the Street Wedge when nobody was running one.

I had a buddy That lived in Houston that had a 66-350HP 327 chevy 11 and a 70 Yenco Nova 360HP 350. He bought both of them new and they were bone stock. I loved that chevy11.. He never raced them, but told me the '70 Nova seemed to run better than the '66..I always told him I wanted the Chevy 11 if he ever sold it. Years after college I lost track of him & the cars..

I for one have discussed multiple times at length via email and written correspondence with NHRA that the early Camaro and '68-72 Nova (actually they are Chevy II's in '68 and Novas from '69 on) should not be considered as the same platform. They share a front sub frame and rear axle housing and that's about it....and even the rear housings have different spring perches as the springs are splayed differently front to rear. GM actually classifies them as different platforms...'F' for the Camaro and 'X' for the Nova. But the fact is, these cars were built and should have been in the Guide since 1970. The only unfortunate thing is that the weight break didn't end up in the 9.40's as some of the initial paper work on shipping weights indicated it might. ![]()

I think the longer wheelbase puts them in a different review category. I think it is great they added it. I will say, to be honest about it, this is a super good combo in a Camaro. NHRA gifted it and it has been fairly well protected so I could see why they carried it over to the Nova.

There was an original unrestored 70 LT1 Nova on Ebay last night that sold for over $142,000.

As some of you know I’ve run these motors for years. Both the 70 LT1 and the 71. The only difference is the compression with the 70 being a point or a little more higher. Andrew’s car runs pretty good, but it wasn’t cheap to get it there . Lots of cams, converters, carbs, headers, ring packages, etc. it’s fairly easy to get to 7 or 8 tenths under, but the last 4 or 5 tenths are expensive.
