6.2 LS is rated at 365hp in SS. So that would put it at 3090# to run GT/EA.

The shipping weight for a 1971 Vega is ~2433 (including the driver) but how much do you add with just the V8 engine alone? Remember they removed the rule limiting how much weight can be removed/added in GT classes.

Vega is a 5.7 LS1 combo, not the 6.2.

Interesting...thanks. In that case the math makes a little more sense - 313HP GT factor x 8.00 lbs/HP + 170 lbs. = 2674 lbs. minimum for GT/EA.

Looking at stock rules I was surprised that adapter plates (NHRA approved) are allowed for transmissions. Is that a new change? How do you find out what's approved ?

I bought the 2022 rulebook , it is the biggest I have ever seen , at least an inch thick . Also I think last year NHRA dropped using the shipping weights in GT . you just pick the GT class you want to run in and calculate the weight based on the NHRA engine factor .

As a purely hypothetical example could you claim your car is a 1971 or 1972 body, install a 1970 Olds engine and then claim it to be a "GT" class car in Super Stock?

Yes... probably, not unlike 69 Camaro with '70 465hp 454 (490hp) GT/A or GT/B ?
