Billy, I often see nice original-condition cars at the big auctions that are Stock-eligible and can be purchased for $10k or less prior to modifications. Would they qualify for dime-rocket status? Or does it mean a ready-to-race cost of ~$10k?

I will not cut up nice cars anymore. Not for the pathetic payouts in today's money. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the time and monies that go into the cars out there today, I just don't want to play the "game" anymore. I guess the most important thing should be, take personal satisfaction in picking and building a combo and then get out there and have a blast running the wheels off of it!

is there any reason we do not see any of the super charged 3.8 grand prix or cobalts running in stock?

If I could find a supercharged Cobalt with an automatic, I'd be racing it.

A 4 valve, supercharged (with it's own little intercooler built into it) engine at 205 HP?
I think that I'd take a chance on it.

On the other hand, some of the stuff mentioned in this thread, aren't worth much more than scrap value, so you better figure in the initial cost of the body, into your equation ;-)

From what i understand, the cobalt is one of the Buth family daily drivers. has very very minor things done to it, but are working on it as well.... i am thinking my 09 pontiac g5 might be going down the same trail soon, if i get my EF/S aries figured out.
