That the hemis have thier own class is a good thing,..wrong factors and stuff would be devastating for the guys spending what they do at the HEMI classes...dont get me wrong..i like the arnstrongs and others...but to compare them with what the SS/AH guys do right now wouldn't be right...thats Mini Pro Stock...if you didn't know allready...

John Armstrong is the fastest SS/AA on the planet; but if he wouldn't be able to handle Charlie Westcott Jr. headsup. The only SS/AH cars close to Westcott Jr. are his father, and his engine customers, Larry Woo and John Rains; Westcott Jr. is head and shoulders above all of the other SS/AH cars. If they ever get his father's 4 speed car to run the front half like it does the back half, it may be faster than Jr.'s.

The SS/AH weight break is 6.00; the SS/AA weight break is 6.00 - 6.49; I guarantee you that Armstrong is as close to 6.00 as possible. Don't get me wrong, I am a John Armstrong fan; but I still believe that if Westcott Jr. and Armstrong are both right at 6.00 lbs./hp, Westcott is the clear winner. Do you really think that Armstrong can run low 8.50s even at 6.00 lbs./hp?

This would be a race to remember for sure.I am an admirer of both of these men for what they have achieved, but I really don't think people are giving Armstrong enough credit here.To say that one is heads and shoulders above the other just ain't happening in my book,it would be a very close race for sure and would be worth the price of admission to indy alone.

you are only talking about a 1/10th difference between the two[ on their best runs ],so maybe at 6 lbs the hemi might pull a slite but add a carb to the vette too make it equal..i am not a hemi hater but put them back in ss/aa and give the fords and chevys a shot. they brag but they dont want competetion in ss/ah.wth..denny

John is my engine builder and a friend of mine, I know how he races (bracket mode) unlike the AH guys who are in kill mode all the time. As I stated in my first post if we could get John to make a pass in kill mode alot of people would pay attention, he's a humble gentleman that has worked years on his combo and doesn't want to get hit with HP. I guess I get sick of hearing about all the AH guys and how great they are, when you see and know people like John who go virtually unnoticed in NHRA drag racing. By the way John wouldn't like all this attention.

Talking Re: Ss/aa

I had a dream last night that Chevy had designed the Armstrong vette with 2 carbs the same cfm. as the HEMI, a forward scoop the same size as the HEMI and John moved to a "WARMER" climate for two years to get lots of seat time. One would think that these changes would possibly shorten the gap between the "Elephant and the Rat" --- LOL ----- Living up here in "ESKIMO LAND", John should take up racing snowmobiles or dogsleds with the weather we have. ------ all the best, Kevin. ---
