After they are finished they may not look the same, but have you seen a S/S small block or LS prepped legel head, they do not look much the same either. Dyno you gotta look a little deeper. The old stock heads weighed like 58 lbs, I think is the number (getting old CRS), the new heads are substantially heavier like 72 lbs. That extra cast iron is in the porting areas.

What is the old axiom for porting? It is hard to port where there is water.
