Just thought of something else. Jim Kuntz and I set the D/S record at 10.88 in the fall
of 1987 and the C/S record in 1988 at 10.92. We claim both records as the first in
the 10's in both classes. If someone can prove me wrong I will back off of that.

We had a Bad 1970 red Cobra Jet Mustang orginally built by Larry Yow in 1982/3.
Kuntz improved on the already great performance of that car in order to set both records.

S.E. - We may not be talking about the same race. I looked at the record certificate I have and it says April 4, 1981. You were racing the silver convertible. I also have a certificate for the E record set on Feb 14, 1981. I also have record certificates for the A record 10.73 and the B record 10.76 from 1986 with the 396.

Dwight:

You are 100% correct. The race I was talking about was the 1982 Green Valley
Points Race. I only raced Kuntz's 69 Convertible in 1982. In 1981 I didn't race
but 1 or 2 races in Tinker Green's AS/M Mustang.
So, we are both right.
By the way that was one BAD 302 you had. Along with several other cars
you raced thru the years.

Thanks for the compliment!! You and Jim and Dennis Oliver were always inspiration. It's humbling to look back and see how my life was influenced by such great people who I can call friends . . . and proud to do so. I just wish I had been half the driver you are.

your race cars was the wrong shape.

S.E.

P.S. The reason this says Jeff Colvert posting is I am helping him today.

Where did you get that idea??? Your Mother didn't raise you right or sumpthin'. Now that oval has been morphed into a pentagon and there's probably no hope for you anymore! Have you ever even driven a BowTie? I know Verne has at least ridden in one. That's the only thing I can figure that has saved him from death and destruction!

I think the Stockers have came along way, since the real true Stock classes from the 60's, with 7" slicks and limited sized header-collectors, with complete exhaust system attached.
1966 records for you Rocket Launchers in Stock Class.
A/S.. record holder,,Bill Jenkins,,11.66 (66 Chevy II, 327/350hp)
A/S.. MPH record holder, Bill Stiles,,123.96 (66' Plymouth 426/425 Hemi
..The E/S record was 12.99,,,So slow, compared to todays missles,
kind of like watching grass grow..

Yes Paul, but you can cut the grass. How do we get stock back to the basics to where it's affordable for most. Not to where you have to spend $40,000 to $80,000 to have a "somewhat competitive" car.

This used to be an entry level class.
