Default Transbrake launch rpm?

I was wondering what rpm's to launch off a transbrake. High or low? ATI states to go as low as possible without the car hesitating and that will produce the best times. Just curious to know what you guys have found. Maybe post some stall speeds and launch rpms.

Have you ever tried a 2500 or so launch?

Anywhere between 3500 and 4500 with a converter that would "flash" to between 6700-7000 depending on air.

Car would always 60' about the same whether it was 3500 or 4500. Just a lot more violent the higher you leave on the chip.

The reason I'm asking is because I've been foot braking it at 2500 and it has run a best of 10.05@134 with a ****ty 1.44 60'. Wondering what to expect or work to get once I start leaving off the trans brake at around 4000. I have a 5500 stall converter. I think it should be going a 1.38 60'. It two weeks I have a track rental and I'll be able to try different launch rpms and shock settings. Should a 1.38 be hard to get?

Wink Re: Transbrake launch rpm?

Oh hell! short story.....a buddy had a Pinto "bracket" car...would footbrake run 7.70's 1/8 mile....the brake for bracket 1 was 7.50 & he wanted to run bracket 1. Sooo he was having a new engine built (he wanted to run 7.30's ) he got his new trans with a brake so put it in with the "old" engine....car went 7.48 first pass! He said "hell all I needed was the trans!" with the "new engine" the car ran 6.80's!!!

If I pick up 2 tenths on the brake, I'll have one big smile. Anything into the 9's and I'm happy.
