Can anyone help educate me and others I am sure on CIC:
For the d-1 opens; CIC will be based on current NHRA CIC policy -- .510 under your index will adjust your index for the next round. For Example, Racer X runs 9.000 on a 10.000 index; Index for round 2 will be 9.49 (10.00 - .510 = 9.49). It is the racer’s responsibility to know what his and his opponent’s index should be for all rounds of eliminations. In a situation where both vehicles are in the same class, the race will be conducted on a heads-up basis. So as long as you don't run .510 under your index stays the same from round to round assuming you win the race to the stripe of course. So in theory the 1.5 under the index cars should be able to win these races. With no AHFS for opens it could be quite fun for some and a instant loss for others. Am I correct in my reading? Thanks Eric

In comp or in class for stock and superstock. For all races It is the towers responsibility to get the index right. Not the racers. (been there done that). There is no shoe polish, no dial in. It is not the racers job to even make sure their own index is right.

Art--- However IN COMP if the tower has posted an INCORRECT index on the tree and you stage YOU ACCEPT that index as the correct index!!!!
If you do not stage there is still time to correct the index. |

why such a low index hit .510 under? the bottom of the sheet is usually faster than that. I would think a .7 .8 would be closer, or even a second under but .51? take Pomona for example you have to go all the way back to I think #46 qualifier for .51 under. everyone will be on the brakes at the 1/8.

Tower getting indexes wrong happened in Comp at the dutch classic in 2011
In CIC racing it is 1st to finish line and you better take as little stripe as possible. Go to inside comp and see how they are beating up a racer for taking permanent hit for taking the stripe by 14ft. Probably going to hang out at finish line to watch the smoke coming off the tires for these races, In a race like the open, the object is save as much as possible until the final. Maybe semis to get to the money round is not a bad idea either. Also watch what other races have taken, so if all semifinalists have run 1.20 under index and you are clean, (not faster than .510 under original index) you get to go at it make sure you take the stripe. Know your competition |

CIC only applies to Comp Eliminator. CIC starts at -.510 under, and goes .01 reduction for each hundredth past -.510 you go. -.570 = .07 reduction; -.730 = .23 reduction. -1.000 is a .50 reduction. No permanent index reductions at Opens, so on Monday, all Indexes go back as they were.

You are responsible for checking the dial ins. The tower is responsible for checking the indexes

Not sure if racers like one class combo or not. I liked it the old way but something new can be fun too! Eric
