What about us "poor folks" who have spent probably as much $$$ as a COPO over the last 25+ years campaigning 1967-1969 Camaros? as well as those campaigning 1970-2002 Camaros? We also need Chevrolet to step up to our game!!
From The Block: Quote: "That’s right, it definitely pays to run Chevrolet Performance parts in drag racing. And, according to the official Chevrolet press release, "Competitors who use Chevrolet Performance parts and display the brand’s decal on their race car are eligible for contingency payouts in many NHRA classes." “Chevrolet has a long history of supporting NHRA drag racers and our 2014 contingency program rewards sportsman and Pro Stock racers for top performances,” said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “When you race with Chevrolet Performance parts and display our decals, you are eligible for a contingency payout that can be reinvested in your race team.” UnQuote |

Does this not apply to you guys?
"Even racers who don’t drive a COPO Camaro can win contingency money. In the NHRA Mellow Yellow Series, racers are eligible for payouts when using a Chevrolet Performance cylinder block or cylinder heads. In fact, they can double up on the payout when running both the block and heads. In the Pro Stock class, for example, Chevrolet Performance pays $500 for a win and $100 for the runner up if the racer uses a Chevrolet Performance engine block or cylinder heads. That means a winner can collect $1,000 for a win with an engine using the block and heads. A similar payout schedule of $300 for a win and $100 for runner-up are available for sportsman racers running a Chevrolet Performance block or heads – or $600/$200 for an engine with both the block and heads – in the following categories: •Competition •Super Stock •Stock •Super Comp •Super Gas •Super Street •Top Sportsman •Top Dragster. Racers must display the Chevrolet Performance decal. The previous GM Performance Parts decals are invalid for contingency payouts. Go to nhraracer.com for contingency program details." |
