Hi Mike...I used a -8AN return in my fuel system. I don't regret spending a little extra on hose, fittings and the regulator to get the benefits as compared with the dead head style. Very consistent pressure at all times.

Mike,
with several builds/upgrades, each one has smooth, steady pressure with the addition of a return line. *The ultimate [when rules allow] belt drive pump with bypass regulator *When rules require an electric pump I like a return style regulator that has a vacuum feature. Even with our radical cams just a few inches of vacuum at low speeds bring the pressure down about 2 - 3 pounds below the wide open [vacuun line removed] setting. *At light throttle, the engine is less "blubbery" with lower fuel pressure

Before we reworked our complete fuel system we were dead heading the fuel line to the carburetor. We went with a new Aeromotive fuel pump and regulator. It was recommended by Aeromotive to put in a return line which we did. The system to date has been working well with no fuel delivery related issues.
